MCA G-Force crew member Mike Pagano "PAGS" recently
volunteered in the Hurricane Katrina Animal Relief
Effort. He was put in charge to quickly formulate a plan
to turn a vacant elementary school into a large triage
center for rescued animals. This small grass roots
organization was based from an all volunteer network and
donations. There was no sense of mission and a myriad of
disorganized and fragmented plans in place before he
arrived.
With no water, electricity, fuel, and small core of
volunteers with various qualifications, Mike used his
leadership training and experience as an F/A-18 Fighter
Pilot in the US Marine Corp and methods of strategic
alignment with Master Connection Associates to put
together a team of supervisors to organize an execution
plan, opened lines of communication with outside
agencies and created an overall team concept to align
everyone with a common goal. The animal rescue system
that was implemented and maintained during this time
will be used as a model for future disasters. He is
currently working with FEMA and several US Government
Agencies to integrate the process into their rescue
system and creating parallel processes that can be used
for human rescue. The success story of the shelter was
featured on CBS Evening News, The Speed Channel and was
picked up in news stories by the Associated Press (AP),
New York Times and The Times-Picayune of New Orleans. |

Keynote Presentation
Mike’s keynote focuses on leadership challenges,
communication problems, and the multi-tasking skills
needed during chaotic times or a disaster. The key
points of this keynote can be applied to any industry
and is a different look in how to align people in a
common cause when things are disorganized and during
poor execution. Creating a team concept and surrounding
yourself with good people that will step up and lead are
the hallmark for successful execution and will keep task
overload of team leaders to a minimum.
The importance of open lines of communication with
outside agencies and internal relationships is key to
maintaining good productivity during less than perfect
situations. Maintaining Situation Awareness or keeping a
real time assessment to recognize and correct the errors
before they become a problem during hectic times is
addressed. Mike shows how the Leadership skills from his
Marine Corps background were applied in the disaster
battlefield and will show how you can gain mutual
respect with the people in your organization to achieve
mission success.
